DOC HOLLIDAY / LIZARD
    VERVIERS, BELGIUM - Nov 10th, 2003
by John Molet - Novembre 2003

I will always wonder why a band like Doc Holliday has
no plan to play in France while they're touring Europe ! As many fans, we
had to go to Belgium to see them perform with Lizard. I must admit our friends
from Belgium are better in promoting gigs and bands than we are ! I believe
they have the real passion, something which is real when you meet the owners
of the great "Spirit of 66" in Velviers. Anyway, we drove 400 kilometers and
we've been part of an incredible night. Friends of Bruce Brokkshire, the german
band, Lizard opened the show. Two members were not there this night because
of family problems, so we won't see the original lineup. But the show they
performed was great. They had Bruce Brookshire replaceing one of their guitar
player, and their sound engineer replacing their bass player. Lizard played
several songs from their last album, such as "Travelling band" or "Tell me".
For sure, this band is one of the best ones in Europe. Then came the moment
we've been waiting for such a long time. Doc Holliday hits the stage and starts
with their song "Last ride". waouh !!!! For sure, this is the real Doc fronting,
the great Bruce Brookshire with John Turner Samuelson on guitars, Eddie Stone
on keys, Daniel Bud Ford on bass and Danny "Cadillac" Lastinger on drums.
Let me tell you, for a southern rock fan, what a great joy to be here seeing
these guys on stage. I've been impressed by the pleasure they have on stage,
they're here for the music and the fans ! They play almost all of their classic
songs, "Southern man", "Doin' it again", "Song for the outlaw" (the tribute
to Ronnie Van Zant). Bruce also plays some songs from the new album, "Good
time music" with the titles "Trudy" from Charlie Daniels, or the emotional
"Simple man" dedicated to Lynyrd Skynyrd. I'm completely blown away and the
show ends with "Magic midnight lady", "Lonesome guitar" and "Ain't no fool".
I watched the audience, right after the show, and everybody was smiling. I
can't add anything more, we just saw a great moment of southern rock history
! Thanks so much sirs !
