At last some fresh, not hackeneyed! It's a great pleasure to listen to this little 4 title EP of the Southern Experience Band, coming from Kings Mountain, North Carolina! The youth is dominant in this band, three kids led by Ron Humphries the veteran bassist, to let us thrill on a Southern Rock that is all except moulded. The EP opens with « Fine By Me », a good classic southern boogie that gives the eye with a tiny bit on the South Carolina neighbour Silver Travis with still in focus the Marshall Tucker Band. Then two tunes, « The Heart of His People » and « Live My Life », ethereal and progressive pop, that stand out, with a light Atlanta Rhythm Section overtone. The lead guitar JT Fitch is excellent, just like Scott Sanders on keyboards. The terminus takes place with « You On My Mind », boogie jam very very swing that let us expect an album to follow. Do we have to cross the fingers ? Perhaps soon the release of a full to bursting album of this very delightful southern experience.
